Full Speed Ahead for the Grand Prix of Cleveland City of Cleveland and Grand Prix reach new five-year agreement to hold the event at Burke; 2008 Grand Prix scheduled for June 20-22
CLEVELAND, Nov. 7, 2007 – For twenty-six consecutive years, the shores of Lake Erie have come alive each summer when the Grand Prix of Cleveland roars into town for the annual celebration of speed at Burke Lakefront Airport. Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Grand Prix officials announced today that this tradition will continue, thanks to a new five-year agreement between the City and the Grand Prix to hold the event at Burke through 2012. Organizers also announced that the 2008 event, the first under the new agreement, will take place June 20 – 22.
“The Grand Prix is a significant annual event for the City of Cleveland. It is a popular attraction that puts Cleveland on the world stage and delivers an annual economic impact of some $30 million,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson.

Tracy Win Caps Thrilling Weekend at the Grand Prix
CLEVELAND, June 24, 2007 – Under clear blue skies and in front of a near capacity crowd of more than 65,000, Paul Tracy took the checkered flag in the main event to put an exclamation point on a spectacular weekend at the 2007 Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank. PAUL TRACY EARNS 31st CAREER VICTORY DURING WILD CHAMP CAR GRAND PRIX OF CLEVELAND
Through the first six laps of the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank at Burke Lakefront Airport, Paul Tracy (#3 Indeck Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone) was more likely to receive a visit from an NTSB investigator than the trophy queen. The 2003 champion was involved in two separate incidents requiring him to change his front wing during the early stages of the event, but the cagey veteran and his Forsythe Championship Racing team played the fuel strategy correctly to claim the victory. CLEVELAND, Ohio (June 23, 2007) – Cleveland native Jason Saini couldn’t have asked for a better homecoming this weekend, taking win number two of an SCCA Pro Racing SIRIUS Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup doubleheader at Burke Lakefront Airport Saturday evening. NEAR RECORD RUN GIVES SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS
Sebastien Bourdais (#1 McDonald’s Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone) flirted with the track record at the 2.106-mile Burke Lakefront Airport temporary circuit, but came a hair short as he claimed his second pole position of the year. Bourdais will start the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank from the most coveted position after posting a fastest lap of 56.363 seconds (134.514 mph). The lap was eight-hundredths of a second slower than the track record set by A.J. Allmendinger in 2006. Burke Lakefront Airport may have been converted to a race track for the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank, but Sebastien Bourdais (#1 McDonald’s Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone) resembled a jet fighter pilot lapping the 2.106-mile temporary circuit in 56.961 seconds (133.102 mph).
